CEC Scientists Venture to Geneva

The trip to Geneva was a great success; the students not only gained the knowledge of the science behind the large hadron collider but we also gained a brief taste of Swiss culture. The first day was rather tiring with an early start topped with hauling our luggage on the Geneva transportation system we eventually made it to our youth hostel. Despite this we wasted no time in taking the opportunity to observe the architecture and sights right on our doorstep. A just minute away from the hostel was the Jet L'Eau (a large water geyser), which was conveniently placed on route to the science museum. A boat took us close to the Jet L’Eau, which was spectacular, although we got a little wet! The science museum was filled of well-presented exhibits and a bit of thinking allowed us to pass the language barrier. After finishing our time at the museum we navigated are way back to the hostel were we enjoyed a calm and relaxing evening grabbing a quick bite to eat.

Alicante Exchange

On the 9th of March, 8 students, currently studying Spanish for GCSE or A-level travelled to the beautiful coastal city of Alicante for a week.  One student said ‘each of us stayed with a Spanish host family, who were extremely generous and kind. They looked after us as if we were a part of their family. When we arrived, we were welcomed by an array of happy, noisy and friendly people. We spent the first night with the host family, who provided our entertainment.’
